The Wine Dark House is located in center of Positano. Just before you reach the stairs to go up to the church on the right hand side you will find this little gem. In the center, but surprisingly quiet. Lonely Planet guide as I wrote before was our restaurant concierge and again its’ recommendation was spot on.
We didn’t take any starters (cocktails are not starters right?) since we already ate quite a big lunch so we just went for mains. This time no frutti di mare, no pizza. Sam took minced beef with a salad and I took pasta with beef in onion wine sauce.
Let me tell you – yes I know, it didn’t look that appetizing. Yes, let’s be honest it looks like a cow walked by my pasta and just needed to do nr 2 quickly. But the taste! Easy and delicious dish that probably most of us could do at home but never thought of it. Tons of onion (I love onion) in delicious wine sauce and meat and pasta! What else do you need in your life? I didn’t need anything more. Ate all of it, wanted to lick the plate, but ladies don’t do it. At least not when they’re out.
Minced beef with salad was also delicious and a perfect meal when you’re not too hungy but feeling a bit empty.
We came back just for a drink other night and the waiter recommended me some local wine which I loved. All in all: spot on place in Positano. Quiet, great choice of wine, delicious dishes, pleasant service. Stop by when on Amalfi Coast.
Practical information:
Address: Via Del Saracino, 6/8,
84017 Positano
Tips: Yes, Italy is seafood etc. But when in The Wine Dark House seriously try the dish I had. It was worth changing from frutti di mare pasta for one evening.
