When you are in Gruyère and you’re a via ferrata fan, then for sure you should check – Moléson via ferrata.

Starting point is a bit up from a mid-station Plan-Francey (1,517 m), which if you’re lazy, you can reach with a funicular. From then on you continue a little hike to your right where you will find a sign that will lead you to your rock adventure. You have to pay 4 Swiss francs for the via ferrata. The money goes towards preserving the route. The first wire ropes start at 1,580 m and they will take you up almost to the top of Moléson which is 2,002 m. The peak you reach by walking up from the end of the route.
It is vertical, seriously, all the time up, some traverse, not suitable for beginners. Watch out: at one point you can choose a different route, one is more overhanging and you need to have quite strong arms for that part. There is a sign so no worries, you won’t get lost and take a more challenging one just by accident.
When you have reached the top you can have a drink and enjoy the panoramic view on the terrace from restaurant Le Sommet . Then either take a cable-car down to Plan-Francey and funicular down to the village or you can walk down with one of paths.
Moléson via ferrata is open from mid June till October depending on the weather conditions. When you read the info it says you need 3 hours for i t but if you’re quite fit you will probably be finished after an hour +
