Stellisee is one of the most famous lakes in Zermatt. Most of the brochures showing lake and Matterhorn, are those of Stellisee. What is so amazing about it? Well, it’s not the biggest lake you have ever seen, but the scenery is just breathtaking. Just to prove some photos:
So how can you get there?
Option for lazy/ tired hikers:
Take a train up to Sunnegga station and then continue with a chairlift up to Blauherd . From there going up you will see a little path on the right hand side which you just need to follow until you reach Stellisee.
From there you can continue to Fluhalp restaurant , where you can enjoy delicious lunch with a Matterhorn view on the sunny terrace.
Option for ambitious hikers:
Start your hike already in Zermatt .

Practical information:
Starting point: Zermatt (1620 m), Sunnegga (2288 m), Blauherd (2571 m)
Target: Stellisee (2537 m)
Hike lenght: If you are starting your hike from Zermatt – about 3 hours; from Sunnegga: about 50 minutes; from Blauherd: about 20 minutes. If you continue to Fluhalp: extra 15 minutes.
