Lac de la Gruyère (Lake of Gruyère) is an artificial lake that was formed by builiding Rossens Dam in 1948. Quite a big lake that offers a lot to local community. You can go swimming, kayaking, just chill on of the beaches or hike along!
If you’re motivated enough you can hike along the lake for about 45 km. If you’re less motivated like I was one day, you can just take a shorter trail. I chose 15 km trail and started in Broc, where I live. The trail most of the time is very close to the lake shore, sometimes a bit further due to safety reasons. It is a very easy hike that leads through the forest, agricultural areas and offers stunning views. Perfect for a hot sunny day when temperatures are skyrocketting and you just don’t feel like changing the altitude too much.
Practical information:
Starting point: Broc Fabrique (678 m)
Target: Corbières (689 m) and then back to Broc
Hike lenght: About 15 km. Very easy hike, suitable for everyone.
Tips: If you want to prolong your hike, there’s more options:
– Section Vuippens – Rossens (15 km): 4 hours 15
– Section Rossens – Vuippens via Pont-la-Ville (17 km): 4 hours 40
